Slovakian forward Juraj Faith leaves Manchester Phoenix  for EHC Freiburg in Germany.  VERY IMPORTANT NEWS FOR SWINDON WILDCATS:  Nicky Watt has ended a few weeks of speculation by  adding his name to the list fo returning Wildcats for the  upcoming 2012-2013 season;  Last season’s top scorer Aaron Nell has signed on the  dotted line for the team again. This is great news for the  Wildcats as Aaron brings an import’s scoring prowess  without taking up an import’s slot!  Wildcats release Nick Compton who immediately goes to  the island and joins Wightlink Raiders - bad luck Nick but  good luck too!
Highlights: It’s all over, round two here we come. The Devils needed a little over four periods to get past Florida 4 games to 3 and Ne the Rangers played a typical tight tough game, with all the goals in the second period, to scrape past Ottawa Senators. Just like last season the Stanley Cup holder go out in round one - the Capitals overtime goal just under three minutes into overtime knocked out the Boston Bruins. The Redwings are the last team to retain the trophy and that was back in 1998. New Jersey have made their series go to seven games after a 3-2 overtime win, although they lead 2-0 early in the second period Florida’s two goals from four shots pegged them back. . Finally Chigaco and Phoenix played a ‘non-overtime’ game but with the Coyotes triumphing 4-0 it was party-over time for the Blackhawks who were dumped out of the first round 4 games to 2. Meanwhile it’s all level between Ottawa and the Rangers as a three goal third period helps the Rangers overcome a one goal deficit and square the series 3-3. St Louis Blues became the second team to advance to the second round when they stormed back from one goal down to win the third game 3-1 and qualify four games to one. Three goals in the last 8 minutes and 44 seconds of game five sealed Sharks fate. That was close! Meanwhile last season’s runners-up the Vancouver Canucks are out, LA Kings snatched an overtime winner in game five to finish the Canucks’ challenge before it had really got going. Finally Philadelphia closed out the series against Pittsburgh with their first defensive display of the six games letting only one goal in from forty shots in a 5-1 truimpth. The first round has gone very well so far with not one series being a 4-0 blow-out and majority of the series will go to a least six games which is good for the NHL and for the fans.
